Melgina Triumphs in Ičići at the "Opatija CRO Melges 24 Cup 2026"
The Kvarner Gulf delivered spectacular conditions for the opening of the 2026 Melges 24 European Sailing Series and the CRO Melges 24 Cup. Hosted by Yacht Club Croatia in the beautiful ACI Marina Ičići, the Opatija regatta saw three days of intense racing, early morning "tramontana" breezes, and a thrilling battle for the podium.
After eight races, the Italian crew Melgina, led by Paolo Brescia, secured a hard-fought victory. They finished tied on points with the local favorites, Razjaren (skipper Ante Ćesić), but clinched the title through a tie-break. The Corinthian division also saw top-tier performances, with Taki 4 (ITA) taking the win, followed closely by Hungary’s Chinook.
This event was a true celebration of sailing, and its success is a result of incredible teamwork. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the crews who traveled from across Europe to join us on the starting line.
